The prevalence of youth unemployment and rural poverty is threat to any society. It is in this light that Chief Nnamdi Vitalis Ozonweke (Chairman Andy Young Group), an accomplished industrialist and philanthropist, decided that we can’t fold hands rather action must be taken by visionary leaders to change the situation. Consequently, he started Andy Young Foundation in 2010 out of this need to empower the youth through qualitative education, skill acquisition and support for entrepreneurship. His vision is to create a vehicle for societal change and development. This vision, he has pursued with great vigor and has impacted greatly the community around him through academic sponsorship, skill acquisition training, women and youth empowerment and community service. Over the years, the foundation has been making giant strides in improving the lives of our youths and women and as a result, it was registered in 2020 with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. The foundation is driven by experienced and motivated board of trustee headed by Chief Dr. Nnamdi Ozonweke who believe that the youth are the future leader and we can only hope for a better tomorrow if we empower these youth to be productive in their different endeavors. Also, there is a firm belief that by empowering women, we empower a family because women are the bedrock of every family and as well the entire society.
Andy Young Foundation is focus on five key areas that are meant for maximum impact in the communities we serve. Our cardinal pillars are
We believe that education is the fastest way of progress for any society. Education is also the most assured way to lift people out of poverty. Our intervention in education is in the area of scholarship to bright, indigent students and also in the construction of schools in communities grossly underserved by educational institutions.
Youth empowerment is critical for the development of any community. We are focused at training youths in different skills and equipping with the necessary tools to ensure that they can fend for themselves. Empowering youth reduces crime and deviant behaviours and improves the economy of the community
Women are the bedrock of any society and we believe that empowering women is the best approach to reducing household poverty. Women take crumbles and turn them to nourishment for the family. Empowering them will ensure that the family is well-nourished physically and mentally to face the challenges of daily living.
We believe in helping the less privileged and poor persons in the society. As an immediate intervention we provide food support and also sponsor medical intervention of poor and needy within our communities. We believe that through direct charity interventions, immediate burdens can be lifted off the shoulders of the less privileged in the society
Every community has needs and the government alone can’t satisfy all these needs at the appropriate time. We identify where we can impact the community, sponsor the execution of the project and commission it for the use of the community. We make sure that projects we select are of the upmost importance to the community.
Andy Young foundation is blessed with dignitaries that support our projects.
