OTHER PROGRAMMES OF THE INSTITUTE

Constituency Projects/PRODA Agro-processing Centres

PRODA has succeeded in providing Agro-Processing Centers under the Federal Constituency Projects in some geopolitical zones in the Country.

The aim of this project is to: Provide improved Post Harvest Technology in the geo-political zones of the country as well as transfer improved post harvest technologies to SMEs and establish SME's in the zones. Such centres are located in Oyo State at Ogbomosho, and Ogbomosho North; 5 numbers at Ogun State - Akute, Iwoye, Idogo, Ilobi, Ipokia; 4 numbers at Enugu State – Umuna Ndiagu, Umumba Ndiagu, Obinoffia Ndiagu, Udi Town. Presently work is on-going to establish such centres in Ondo, Kano, Kaduna, Imo, Yobe and Akwa-Ibom States.

The following machines have been completed and delivered to the following centres.

Ikot Abasi Mkpat Enin Eastern Obollo constituency in Akwa Ibom. The machines include: Electric and Kero Ovens, Palm Produce Processing Machine.
Oban Akamkpa Cross River state - Palm Oil Plant.
Udi Enugu state constituency - Garri Processing Plant.
Umumba ndiagu Ezeagu L.G.A, Enugu state - Garri Processing Plant.
Umana Ndiagu Ezeagu L.G.A, Enugu state - Garri Processing Plant.
Obinofia Ndiagu Ezeagu L.G.A, Enugu state - Garri Processing Plant.

Some of these machines for processing of corn into flour for confectionaries, food, etc were delivered to Top Goddy Nigeria Limited at Shop 9A Area 7 Shopping Complex Garki Abuja, installed at Gombe and Yobe States respectively.

SKILL ACQUISITION TRAINING PROGRAMME:

The Institute has successfully carried out skill acquisition training in the following areas:

Ikot Abasi Mkpat Enin Eastern Obollo constituency in Akwa Ibom. The machines include: Electric and Kero Ovens, Palm Produce Processing Machine.
Cosmetics production at Dream Hotel, Owerri in Imo State on 11th Oct. 2013.
Development of efficient and economical coal and Biomass stoves for rural women in Imo State.
The Institute has already completed four (4) of these solid Biomass fueled stoves as samples to be used for the training.
Soap, Candle and Cosmetics Production.
Development of efficient and economical utilization of appliances for cottage industries at Damaturu, Tarmuwa, Gujba Gulani Federal Constituency Yobe State.

The Institute has fabricated above appliances which are ready for installation at the project sites. In addition, the Institute is in readiness to carry out its routine maintenance over these projects as time goes on.
